The driveway is very steep, has potholes and is a little intimidating the first time you drive up it. While some may be a little nervous on their first time up the driveway, most people get used to it and agree that the view is well worth the climb! The main road to get to the cabin like most roads in the Smokey Mountains will be winding and narrow in places (still room for two cars to pass each other). We're at the top of the mountain road from where you get to enjoy the beautiful view. On average, it may take 10 minutes to get to the nearest supermarket/grocery store, so plan accordingly. 4-wheel drive/AWD is not necessary but highly recommended in icy or inclement weather conditions. ★ PARKING ★ 4 vehicle maximum. We do not advise bringing a trailer behind your vehicle due to the narrow winding mountain roads and lack of space to park a long trailer/vehicle combo at the cabin. No smoking or vaping of any kind inside the cabin (no exceptions) If there is evidence of smoking, you will be charged a minimum of $500 for additional cleaning and remediation fees. No refunds for weather/natural disasters/power outages/acts of god/other things that are beyond our control. A starter package of toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, dishwasher and laundry pods are provided as well as a few K-cups and ground coffee to get you started. You may need to buy more for longer stays. ★ OTHER INFO ★ The fireplace is shut down April 1 to October 1 as with every cabin in the area. This is a gas only fireplace. Do not attempt to put wood or any other material in the fireplace. You are in the Smokey Mountains and may see and hear critters, bears, bugs, spiders, etc. Squirrels and other critters can and will get on the roof of the cabin from time to time. The cabin roof is metal so you will likely hear anything that gets up there including rain drops. Bears are dangerous. If you see a bear, stay inside! Do not feed bears or any other wild animals. Do not store food or food wrappers inside your vehicle. Bears can and will break in to vehicles to get food. If you’re lucky enough to see a bear near the cabin, please don’t ask us for a refund! You’ve already been made aware of the possibility. In fact, if you do see a bear near the cabin, we might have to charge you extra for the awesome experience! Please review our cancellation policy. We do not offer refunds for inclement weather, power/internet outages or any issues that are outside of our control. Our cabin cleaners are exceptional. We receive detailed photos before each guest so we can ensure that your stay will be great and held to the highest standards of cleanliness. If any issues arise, please contact the host immediately so we can resolve any issues. The hot tub is drained, cleaned and refilled after each guest, so it will take a few hours from the time it was refilled to reach the maximum temperature. Neighborhood
The road to our cabin is steep and one lane, perfect for those seeking a true mountain adventure. Please note that these are winding mountain roads, and many top attractions are spread out, so you'll spend a lot of time driving. The park is stunning but can be challenging to navigate for first-time visitors. Additionally, there is no cell service once you’re in the park, so be sure to bring maps or take screenshots in advance. There are no habitable cabins inside the park, only historic ones you may encounter on certain hikes. The park has been a national treasure since 1934. Nearby Attractions: -Wears Cove Gap (our secret park entrance to Elkmont): 4.7 miles -Pigeon Forge: 8 miles (15 minutes) -Gatlinburg: 16 miles (45 minutes through GSMNP or down the parkway) -Cades Cove: 23 miles (40 minutes). The loop at Cades Cove is 10.6 miles. You can drive, bike, or run it. It’s closed to cars and open to runners and cyclists on Wednesday and Saturday mornings until 10:00 am from early May to late September. Expect gorgeous views, abundant wildlife, and a good chance of seeing a bear. -Clingman’s Dome: 34 miles (3-4 hours round trip). On the way up, you can enjoy amazing hikes at Newfound Gap such as Andrews Bald and "The Jump Off," and more hikes around Clingman’s Dome. If you prefer a less strenuous experience, at least visit the observation tower at Clingman’s Dome. -Dollywood: 12 miles -Tanger Outlet Malls: 9 miles -Parkway Light #3: 7.3 miles -Wears Valley Rd: 1/4 mile -The Apple Mill Barn: 9 miles -Titanic Museum: 8.6 miles -The Island Amusement Park: 7.4 miles -Rocky Top Harley Davidson: 7.3 miles -Neyland Stadium, Knoxville: 31 miles (1 hour) -Gatlinburg park entrance: 16 miles -Townsend: 9.8 miles -River Rat Tubing: 8.2 miles For hiking enthusiasts, we recommend searching "Hiking In The Smokies" online for more information.
